Characteristics and instructions for using glue BF-2

Glue BF-2 is an adhesive with strong bonding properties and durability that is widely used and versatile. It was initially created for industrial use, but it has since spread to a number of industries, including metalworking, woodworking, and even some home repairs. This glue is a mainstay in many workshops and toolkits because of its exceptional ability to create a strong and durable bond between various materials.

Glue BF-2’s resilience to environmental elements like heat, moisture, and chemicals is one of its main qualities. This makes it a great option for projects that call for a dependable and long-lasting bond under difficult circumstances. Glue BF-2 provides a solution that guarantees stability and durability, whether you’re working on a metal joint exposed to potential corrosion or a piece of furniture that must withstand temperature changes.

There are a few simple steps involved in using Glue BF-2 effectively. Make sure the surfaces that need to be bonded are dry and clean first. Any moisture, oil, or dust can reduce the adhesive’s strength. Next, cover both surfaces with a thin, even layer of glue. Firmly press the surfaces together, and keep the pressure applied until the glue solidifies. Setting times can vary depending on the materials and the surrounding circumstances, so for best results, it’s crucial to adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Glue BF-2 is valued for its practical uses as well as its simplicity of use. Its composition eliminates the need for complicated preparation or specialized tools and enables a strong bond and seamless application. Because of this, it is affordable for both skilled artisans and do-it-yourselfers who want to take on a variety of projects around the house or workshop. Because of its strength, durability, and ease of use, Glue BF-2 is still a highly recommended adhesive option for many.

The composition of the BF-2

The product’s composition conforms to GOST 12172-74 requirements.

It contains polyvinylButiral or polyvinlacetal, components of phenol-formaldehydic resin.

There are no additional parts included. The components listed are not used in the work by other manufacturers.

Characteristic Description
Appearance Transparent liquid. A small turbidity with a yellow or partially red tint is permissible.
Conditional viscosity 30-60 s at a temperature mode +20 o C
The proportion of the dry residue 14-17%
The strength of the adhesive seam during the shift 19.5-20 MPa or 200 kgf/cm.sq. at temperature mode +20 o C
Bending of dried glue seam < 3 mm

Low-elasticity clutch seams that are long-lasting are produced by using BF-2. The effects of high temperatures (up to 200 OS) are easily tolerated by glue. The adhesive composition’s operational characteristics:

  • invulnerability before mold;
  • resistance to chemicals, acetone, gas and alcohol;
  • viscosity in the range of 30-60 PA*C at a temperature mode of 20-25 o C.

Because the glue is kept at a lower temperature, its viscosity may increase.

The product needs to sit at room temperature for one to two days before using. It is risky to store the product close to heating sources or to heat it with a hairdryer.

Areas of use

For joining components that will not move while operating or are subject to dynamic loads, BF-2 glue is advised. If the outcome is not static, the seam itself may become distorted. Its inelasticity following hardening is the cause of this.

  • metal;
  • tile;
  • tree;
  • marble and porcelain tiles;
  • glass;
  • ceramics;
  • Polymer coatings.

Closed components can be made of a variety of materials, such as a plastic base combined with ceramics or a wooden base with glass.

Instructions for use

Two coats of paint must be applied to the composition. BF-2 can be applied to surfaces in place of paint or impregnation, for example, when restoring a structure.

  1. Processing of the areas that you need to glue. The work depends on the characteristics of the materials themselves, for example, the metal must be cleaned with a “skin” and thoroughly wiped with a rag dipped in gasoline (or any other composition with a degreasing effect). Plastic and glass can be treated with hot racks of baking soda.
  2. The adhesive mixture is best applied with a clean thin brush on both sides. The glue layer should be thin and uniform. If it is applied cold, then it takes 20 minutes to dry, hot – at least an hour.
  3. The second layer must be applied with a similar method, like the first (either cold or hot). There should be no passes and subclasses.

The connected pieces need to be squeezed in a vice and heated for 60 minutes when using the hot gluing method. The ideal internal temperature is between 130 and 140 OS. When using cold glue, you must wait two to three minutes after applying the second layer, press the details firmly, and then store the entire thing in a warm, well-ventilated room for a day. When working with marble, metal, and faience, the hot connection method can be applied. Cold: for repairing dishes, vases, and various models. At the latest, in 24 to 48 hours, the component will be operational.

The glue needs to be removed with regular running water if it gets on the hands.

Storage and transportation

It is necessary to store glue (phenolivinyl acetate, brand name BF-2) in hermetically sealed containers.

With a fire source or a potential fire, it is not possible to permit it. The storage area should be dry, dark, and out of the reach of youngsters. The mixture itself is limited to its original factory packaging.

There are three possible modes of transportation: car, rail, and aircraft. Adhering to the minus air temperature is the primary requirement.

Strong bonding abilities and resistance to heat, moisture, and chemicals make BF-2 glue a dependable and adaptable adhesive. It works well on a range of surfaces, including metals, ceramics, and plastics, making it perfect for both home and industrial applications. Before applying a thin, even layer of BF-2, surfaces should be clean and dry for optimal results. Give the parts enough time to cure after pressing them together to guarantee a strong bond. For many repair and assembly tasks, BF-2 glue is the go-to option because it is simple to use and extremely effective.

The category BF-2 has not a single analogue. No component of any manufacturer uses phenol-formaldehyde resin. You have the option of selecting a substitute that has the closest technical specifications. BF-2.

For instance, the composition and strength of the completed seam are less adhesively able in "Super-chamber." Not intended for use on surfaces made of metal. You can attempt to substitute glue with any adhesive that is based on epoxy resin. It poses a fire risk and is toxic. This needs to be kept in mind before using.

The producer offers a range of adhesive mixtures under the BF brand.

  • BF-2N or BF-4N (only for ferrous metal).
  • BF-4 can be used to preserve elasticity of seams that will succumb to vibration.
  • Medical glue BF-6 is the best option when working with textiles and skin, is used in medicine.
  • BF-19-non-toxic, connects ceramics, wood and textiles (hot), rubber, cardboard, skin and textiles (cold method).
  • BF-88-fire hazardous agent, firmly connects metal and non-metallic components.

Every kind of glue used in dentistry is purchased from pharmacies or specialized shops that sell medical supplies.

The volume of the container and the size of the procurement itself determine the cost of the BF-2 adhesive composition. For instance, the average cost of 100 ml of glue in a bottle container is between 100 and 150 rubles.

Adhesive BF-2 is a versatile and dependable product that has shown its value in a range of applications. Well-known for having strong bonding abilities, it works especially well when combining metal, glass, ceramics, and some polymers. Because of this, it’s a well-liked option for both DIY projects and industrial settings where strong bonds are required.

Although using BF-2 glue is simple, it’s crucial to carefully follow the directions to get the best results. Prior to bonding, make sure the surfaces are dust- and grease-free, clean, and dry. You can accomplish this by wiping them down with an acetone-based solvent. Next, cover both surfaces with a thin, even layer of glue. After a few minutes of drying time for the adhesive to get tacky, firmly press the surfaces together.

Applying heat is advised for the best bonding strength. The bonded items can be removed by heating them up with a heat gun or by putting them in a warm place. Heating improves the adhesive qualities of the glue and speeds up its curing process. A temperature of about 100°C is usually adequate, and the bond will cure completely in a few hours. The bond will still form at room temperature if heating is not an option, though it may take longer to reach its maximum strength.

Because of its exceptional resistance to water, oil, and other chemicals, BF-2 glue can be used in challenging conditions. Because of its durability, the bonds are guaranteed to hold even under pressure. To keep the glue effective over time, store it in a cool, dry location at all times.

In conclusion, glue BF-2 is an effective adhesive with a variety of uses. Strong and long-lasting bonds can be guaranteed by adhering to the correct application and preparation procedures. This glue is a trustworthy option for making strong connections between materials, whether it is used for home projects or industrial applications.
